2015 J Class Regatta Cowes
It was great to welcome the J class back to my home waters of the Solent, The 3 Js, Lionheart, Velsheda and Ranger were blessed with good winds and sunshine making for some great racing. The Regatta was organised to mark the Bicentenial of the Royal Yacht Squadron. The J Class Regatta ran alongside a special Classic yacht regatta, both fleets coming together for a memorable round the island race. Undoubtably the high point for me was when the 3 J Class yachts caught up and passed the Classics Yachts off the Needles a scene so reminiscent of the golden age of the J Class when in the 1930s Velsheda would race yachts like Westward and Britannia.
