Cornwall Road Trip

I’ve just returned from an 8 day road trip along the Cornish north coast visiting some new and old favourite locations. With sunny days and big waves I had plenty of subject matter for me to paint, sketch and photograph, much of which I hope to share over the coming weeks.

New Print Release

It’s been a busy and productive start to the year with a second studio move and 3 new large Seascapes completed. These new works, Elation, Mirth and Luscious Blue are all available as limited edition prints. With these paintings completed I’ll shortly be making my first field trip to Cornwall to gather some new reference and material for a new series of paintings.

New Vertical Seascape

To start the New Year of in my new Studio I gave myself a little challenge, I wanted to try and capture all the energy and movement of a big wave rolling in with a foreground of fizzing foam, for this a choose my first vertical composition. I’m very pleased with the results. This painting will be exclusively available via my website and limited edition prints will soon be available.

Current Work in Progress

Decembers work in progress is a large wave painting 36x48 inch oil on canvas depicting the beach break at Porthcurno. Now known as project insanity due to the very complex nature of the subject. I’ll keep pushing on and develop myself as an artist.

Just finished

Completed today this small wave painting 8.5x15. I do like these small wave paintings, I love just how much impact you can have on such a small scale.

The Great Schooner Race

In 2016 I was lucky to witness the Great Schooner race at the Palm Super Yacht Cup. That year 7 of the worlds greatest classic schooners came together for a great show of sail. Ive depicted the 3 Herreshoff designed schooners Eleanora, Elena and Mariette on the final downwind leg.

The painting required a lot of planning as was based on my sketches and notes taken at the time and numerous reference photos. I am very pleased with the result.

Testimonial page

I’d like to thank those clients that have very kindly sent me testimonials and photos of their paintings hung proudly in their new homes. I’ve been over whelmed by the kind words that they have written about me.

With the end of the summer holidays and the end of the boating season I’m now planning my autumn Cornwall wave shoots. I’ll also be taking some candid shots of me out and about as I immerse myself in the subject. Ive a new gopro so I can really get up close and personal with the waves.
